First Congregational United Church of Christ

Elyria, Ohio

In worship, God forms us as a people, blesses and equips each one of us to share in God’s work in our world. We praise and celebrate, give and receive forgiveness, share Christ’s peace, open ourselves to God’s word, lift up our prayers, and get sent out to share the good news of God’s love in our everyday lives.

Weekly Worship: Sundays

8:30 a.m. – A smaller, more contemplative gathering. Usually, the prayers and responses come from the Service of Word and Sacrament II, found in the New Century Hymnal, and we share communion together every week.

10:30 a.m. - Music from a wide range of Christian traditions accompanies God’s people at this celebration worship service. You’ll hear everything from maracas to the pipe organ, hand drums to the zimbelstern. A song gathers our children for a special story around the baptismal font before they leave for church school.  Our Chancel Choir brings musical offerings September through May, and the Campanella Ringers enrich worship on the third Sunday of every month, as well as during special holy day services.

Play “Words with (Church) Friends” during Lent!
On Sundays during Lent, we will explore the vocabulary of faith. What “churchy” or religious word do you find most irritating? Confusing? Outdated?
