Thursday, July 25, 2019, the morning program NBC’s Today Show will be filming and/or broadcasting from First Church and outside by a fence near the building. Walls Of Love is a program in which particular items are placed on a fence and made available for individuals in need to take. The Save Our Children and Elyria Teen programs will be bagging all of the times and placing them on the fence creating Elyria’s Wall Of Love. The children and teens putting the items together and placing them on the Wall Of Love will be filmed by the Today Show. First Church is involved by being the drop-off point items and the assembly of the bags. The Today Show crew will be filming in the church and outside of the church. Below is a list of items needed for the Wall Of Love. If you are able to purchase any of the items and bring them to the church no later than, Tuesday, July 23, 2019, it would be greatly appreciated.
Soap, Washcloths, Shampoo, Conditioner, Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Chapstick, Combs, Brushes, Non perishable food items (slim jim, granola bars, fruit snacks, chips etc), Bottled water, Tshirts, Socks, Tissues, Hand Sanitizer, Diapers,Pads/Tampon, Flip flops,Shorts,Tank tops, Baby items, Hats, Gloves, Scarfs, Mittens, Ear muffs, Tarps,Hand warmers/toe warmers, Coats, Hoodies, Thermals.
New clothing items are preferred, however clean gently used items are allowed.
Quart or gallon ziploc bags are used for walls and 8″ heavy duty zip ties.
All items must be single bagged and marked (except pads/tampons) unless there is no question what it is (or size) as we try to make waste the least amount possible.
